Deerpark Middle School Honor Society membership is open for eighth grade outstanding students who are asked to join with others of similar goals to develop themselves and benefit their community. Our organization is affiliated with the national organization and abides by the national rules and regulations. Membership is based on a student's performance in scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship.
- *Scholarship: A student must have had a 93.5 grade point seventh grade average to be considered for the NJHS. These students are eligible for consideration for membership based on service, leadership, character, and citizenship.
- *Service: This characteristic is based on voluntary contributions to the school and community, which is done without compensation and with a positive spirit.
- *Leadership: Student leaders are problem solvers, supporters of school activities, dependable, and have a positive outlook.
- *Character: A NJHS member must have principles of morality and ethics with standards of honesty and reliability, and with standards of courtesy and respect for others.
- *Citizenship: A NJHS member has a high regard for freedom, justice, and democracy.
